A busy day ends, now I’m headed on home.

Under Summer’s heat is where I must roam.

It’s been blazing all day and all that I crave,

Is ice cold A/C to escape this heat wave.

Yet there’s just no relief as I walk through my door.

This apartment is ancient, keeping cool is a chore.

I turn on the fans but there’s no central air,

I toss and I turn as sweat drips from my hair.

And just as I think I can’t take it any longer,

I have another thought, and this one is stronger.

At the very least I have a place of my own,

A comfort that not every person has known.

Yes it’d be lovely to feel that cool A/C breeze,

But being grateful for what I have puts my mind at ease.
